A message on behalf of the CfC Board. By Bryan Boettger, Board Chair.

Construction for Change is thrilled to welcome home one of our own. Mike McEvoy, an original co-founder of CfC, has joined the organization full time as our permanent Executive Director.

We are at an exciting moment of transition — one that builds on our mission to provide social infrastructure that is Bigger Than Buildings and to have a global impact that reaches far beyond the physical structures we create. We are honored to have Mike returning to CfC to lead us into this next chapter of growth and impact.

Mike will work closely with Scott Lewis, CfC’s interim Executive Director, over the coming months to ensure a smooth transition, knowledge transfer, and continued momentum for the organization.

We hugely appreciate everything Scott has done and will continue to do for CfC. Over the past two years, Scott has guided our organization with incredible leadership and passion. His contributions have been instrumental in advancing CfC’s mission, including leading the most successful single fundraiser in CfC’s history. I want to personally thank Scott for his outstanding work and commitment to the organization — not just over the last two years, but also the decade of service he contributed to the CfC Board before that. As he transitions into a new role focusing on Strategic Partnerships, Scott will continue to play a crucial part in our ongoing success.

MIKE MCEVOY: OUR NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

It’s with great enthusiasm that we welcome Mike back to CfC as our long-term Executive Director. Mike co-founded CfC back in 2007 after graduating from the University of Washington with a degree in Construction Management, driven by the belief that buildings serve as vital hubs for health, education, and financial well-being. His vision has always been that these hubs send ripples of success and well-being throughout the communities they serve.

For the past 18 years, Mike has been working outside of CfC, leading teams across the U.S. to support the holistic health and development of college students through church and mission organizations. His experience in building and empowering teams from Alabama to Southern California, and now back home in Seattle, speaks to his deep commitment to positive social change. Mike’s return to CfC is fueled by his passion for the values we uphold and his desire to make an even greater impact

Mike’s leadership comes at a pivotal time for CfC, and I know he is eager to carry forward our work. As he shared with me recently, “Somehow, Construction for Change has evolved to even more align with the values I believe in and the impact I’d like to make in the world.”

I’m thrilled for the energy and vision he brings to the role, and I look forward to working with him to further CfC’s global reach.

SCOTT LEWIS’S CONTINUED LEADERSHIP IN STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS

I also want to take a moment to recognize Scott Lewis for his remarkable service as Interim Executive Director. Scott has served in leadership roles across three multi-million dollar, global non-profits, bringing with him an incredible depth of knowledge in strategy, operations, finance, and impact consulting. Over the past decade, Scott has been a driving force on the CfC Board of Directors — most recently as Board Chair — and his leadership during this transitional period has been invaluable.

As Scott moves into his new role focusing on Strategic Partnerships, I’m confident that his expertise will continue to guide CfC’s growth. He has a unique ability to align business operations, communications, marketing, and fund development efforts, and his focus on strengthening our global partnerships will be essential in ensuring CfC’s long-term impact.

LOOKING FORWARD: CFC’S FUTURE IS BIGGER THAN BUILDINGS

Mike and Scott are both deeply committed to what makes CfC special: our dedication to creating social infrastructure that truly serves communities and fosters lasting, positive change. As we move forward, CfC will continue to focus on our core values that set us apart:

  • Global Partnerships: Collaborating with both international and local partners to expand our reach.
  • Commitment to Local: Partnering with communities to ensure projects reflect their unique needs and culture.
  • Regional Experts: Our work is led by local professionals who understand the communities we serve.
  • Embedded Advocates: Our team members are deeply embedded in the regions where we work, advocating for long-term success.
  • Long-Term Impact: Every project is designed to create sustainable, community-led solutions that last far beyond construction.

These principles have always been at the heart of CfC’s work, and under Mike’s leadership, I’m confident that we will continue to create social infrastructure that is, as always, “Bigger Than Buildings.”
