By Scott Lewis, who has previously served as CfC board member, board chair, and interim Executive Director
As I reflect on the past 10+ years with Construction for Change, I am filled with pride and gratitude. I joined the Board of Directors in early 2014 during the launch of the 30/30 Project, aiming to build 30 healthcare facilities in partnership with CfC. It has been an incredible journey serving alongside so many passionate individuals — first as a board member, then as chair, and most recently as Interim Executive Director.
Over this decade, we have partnered with 42 organizations to successfully complete more than 100 projects — 118 buildings in total — across our four core impact areas: Healthcare, Education, Economic Development, and Food Security. I am so proud of the positive change we’ve fostered, impacting the lives of more than 1.5 million individuals through these new and enhanced facilities in a way that is truly Bigger than Buildings.
What’s Next
Looking ahead, I am excited to continue supporting the mission of CfC, knowing that our impact extends far beyond buildings to the very heart of local communities. Along with the board, I am thrilled to welcome our new Executive Director, Mike McEvoy. As a co-founder of CfC, Mike brings not only the original vision of our organization but also a wealth of leadership experience.
In the upcoming years, CfC is poised for even greater achievements. Just in the past two years, CfC has worked on 23 projects across six countries, including the United States. Our solid team of construction professionals in Africa, along with our growing team in Greater Seattle, positions us exceptionally well for success.
I wholeheartedly support Mike and his inspiring vision for the future of Construction for Change. I’ve witnessed firsthand the powerful impact CfC can have when strong leadership and a clear mission align. Mike’s return to CfC marks an exciting new chapter for the organization, and I couldn’t be more confident in his ability to guide us into the future.
My Contributions Moving Forward
As I step out as interim Executive Director, I enthusiastically leap forward in the role of leading Strategic Partnerships.
Together, with Mike and the entire CfC team, we’ll be working on major initiatives to build meaningful partnerships and create sustainable revenue streams with like-minded organizations around the world. This is an incredible opportunity to amplify our mission and broaden the reach of CfC’s social infrastructure projects.
I’m invigorated to continue this journey alongside Mike, the full CfC team, and supporters like you.
Building the future together,
Scott Lewis
